Truck condition - SAFETY MANAGER WILL CHECK/ TEST ALL THE FOLLOWING

  1. No grease, oil, fuel, or air leaks of any kind

  2. Airlines

    • No cracks in rubber hoses - dry rotted or anything indicating kinks

    • Cannot lay on catwalk

    • Cannot touch back of cab or catwalk - no chafing

    • Must be wrapped in twisted plastic protective sleeve

  3. Tires

    • Properly inflated

    • No less than 5/32nds tread on any position

  4. No bungee cords holding hood, panels, and/ or fairing together

    • Fairings must be securely properly and not loose

  5. No cracks in windshield

  6. Must have windshield washer fluid in tank at all times

  7. Both wiper blades must be installed, operable, and cannot be damaged, frayed, or dry rotted

  8. Low air buzzer must be functional

  9. Check all lights

  10. Must have reflective conspicuity tape on both rear mud flaps and upper rear corners of cab

  11. Truck/ trailer inspection

    • Must not be older than 90 days when starting

    • Maintain standard quarterly inspections afterwards - must get one each first week of January, April, July, October at random truck repair facilities

  12. Minimum required truck hardware (this list covers majority of various minimum requirements across multiple states and agencies)

    • Three reflective triangles - cannot be damaged

    • Fire extinguisher

      1. OSHA valid – meaning not older than 6 years

        1. Date can be checked by looking at year on bottom

      2. Verify existing fire extinguisher is charged and in the green

      3. UL label must be clearly legible

      4. Size

        1. Single – has to be at least 5 B:C

        2. Can also substitute with two 4 B:C extinguishers

      5. SECURELY MOUNTED (cannot be loose) and easily accessible

        1. Latch/ strap must be engaged and not be able to disengage on rough roads

        2. If located under bunk, have a second key available to open side compartment (if equipped)

      6. Fire extinguisher inside decal on outside of truck 

        1. Recommended on outside of cab to cover some state minimum requirements of a fully charged fire extinguisher securely mounted in a conspicuous place or IN A MARKED COMPARTMENT (Caltrans)

    • Spare fuses for fuse box servicing truck electrical components

    • Minimum 8 days of paper logs with grid graphs (and CANNOT run more than 8 days on paper logs due to ELD malfunction if not exempt)

      1. If manually recording HOS on any app in non-ELD mode in lieu of paper logs then you must have a working printer in the truck to produce paper copies of HOS to officer when requested

    • Minimum two straps or load bars for cargo securement on the back of every dry van load – federal requirement 

      1. T-Way requires 10 straps for some loads

  13. Truck must be fully debadged with all previous decals/ lettering removed

    • You can leave the VIN (must have last 8)

    • You can leave the truck number (if approved)

DO NOT ARRIVE UNPREPARED
